Privacy Policy
Effective October 27, 2026
The Cacao Farm ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website thecacaofarm.com to share information about the farm in Nicaragua and respond to inquiries about visiting. This policy describes how we handle personal information submitted through the website and information collected through website services.
Information we collect
When you submit a booking inquiry, we collect the name and email address you provide, requested arrival and departure dates, numbers of adults and children, your reason for visiting, and any optional message. When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address. If you contact us by email, phone, or WhatsApp, we receive the information you choose to share.
Our hosting provider and security services may also process technical information such as IP address, browser details, and request timestamps to operate and protect the site.
How we use information
- Respond to inquiries, discuss availability, and arrange possible visits.
- Send newsletters when you request them.
- Operate the website, prevent spam and abuse, and troubleshoot problems.
- Where permitted and subject to your privacy choices, measure website visits and booking inquiries and improve our advertising.
Submitting a booking inquiry does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails.
Service providers and sharing
We use HostGator for website hosting and email-related infrastructure and Cloudflare Turnstile to help detect automated submissions. Turnstile may process browser and device signals to verify that a request is legitimate. When Meta advertising tracking is enabled, Meta Platforms may receive information about website activity, including PageView and Lead events, for advertising measurement and optimization. We do not intentionally send the contents of your booking inquiry or your email address to Meta through the Lead event.
We do not sell booking inquiry information to third-party mailing lists. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect our services and rights.
Cookies, location detection, and advertising choices
We use approximate IP-based country detection to decide which privacy controls to display. Our server may send your IP address to a third-party geolocation provider (ipwho.is) to determine your country; we receive a country code, not a precise address. If country detection fails, advertising tracking stays off unless you opt in.
For visitors identified as being in the United States, the Meta Pixel may load automatically unless they have opted out or their browser sends a recognized Global Privacy Control signal. Visitors outside the United States must choose to accept before Meta Pixel loads. All visitors can use the “Cookie preferences” link on the homepage to decline or change their choice. The site stores this choice locally in the browser. Declining does not affect booking inquiries. The location check is approximate and may be wrong, especially with VPNs or proxies.
Declining after previously accepting prevents new Meta tracking on subsequent loads; it does not automatically erase cookies already set by Meta or undo data previously sent. You may clear cookies in browser settings. We honor recognized Global Privacy Control signals by disabling Meta Pixel on this site.
How long we keep information
We keep inquiries and correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond, manage potential stays, maintain business records, and meet applicable legal obligations. We review information periodically and delete it when no longer needed. Newsletter subscribers can ask to unsubscribe at any time.
Security
We use HTTPS and anti-spam verification and take reasonable measures to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
This website is intended for adults planning visits. We do not knowingly solicit personal information directly from children under 13. Parents or guardians may include the number of children traveling in an inquiry. Please do not submit children's names or other sensitive details in the message field.
Your privacy choices
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you provided, subject to applicable law and necessary recordkeeping. You can decline optional advertising tracking and unsubscribe from newsletter communications.
International visitors
Because our farm is in Nicaragua and our website and service providers may operate in other countries, information may be processed outside your country of residence. Applicable privacy rights may vary by location.
